We are a private school with small classes, so that each student can get the attention they deserve.  We build a connection with the student and parent(s) before the year even starts by conducting a one-on-one interview (this is a tradition that has been done since the days of the founders in 1933). 

The interview process gives us a good idea of what class would be the best fit for the individual (it cannot always be based on age, this way we get to see a "picture" of how the class would look and make sure the students are in a class with their contemporaries.  The interview also gives us a chance to talk to each new student and tell them about the classes and ask them about their interests, at the end we always ask the child or teen if this is something that they really want to do.  All of the students that come into our classes say "Yes", and this means a deeper level of personal commitment and a group that all WANT to be there.   It has been a positive way to start the year for over 76 years now and we've continued to honour this tradition because on top of everything else it is the start of a personal connection that we maintain throughout the year.

Although this is a requirement before being accepted into the school, it is NOT an audition.

To obtain an interview, we ask parents to complete the registration process and pay the deposit.  We will then contact you with an interview time. And if after meeting us - you decide you do not want to join the school (and this rarely happens!) - we will rip up your cheque or refund your deposit.

Our new-student registration interview dates will continue into October, but the sooner the interview is done, the better! Final dates to be announced

• The registration sessions are held at our studios at St. Matthew's Church in the NDG/ Snowdon area - see location below.

• All classes and workshops take place at our studio located in the Snowdon area in: St. Mathews Church 4940 MacDonald Avenue (corner Snowdon Avenue, south of Queen Mary Road).
